This policy describes what data we collect and why; how your data is handled; and your rights with respect to your data. We will never sell your data.
This policy applies to all products built and maintained by Ikizen, including the Ikizen browser extension and ikizen.app website.
The Ikizen browser extension is designed with privacy in mind. Here is how your data is handled:
By default, most of your data stays on your device. Your widgets, settings, blocked sites, habits, and goals are stored locally in your browser using browser storage APIs. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable cloud sync.
When you upload images (such as inspiration backgrounds or custom icons), these are stored on our servers using AWS S3 cloud storage. This applies regardless of whether you have cloud sync enabled. Uploaded images are accessible via a unique URL and are not linked to your account unless you enable cloud sync.
If you subscribe to Ikizen and enable cloud sync, your settings and widget data are encrypted and synced to our servers. This allows you to use Ikizen across multiple browsers and devices. You can disable sync at any time, and your data will remain local only.
If you connect third-party services (like Todoist, GitHub, or Bitbucket), the extension communicates directly with those services using your provided credentials. These credentials are stored in your local browser storage. If you enable cloud sync, your third-party tokens are also synced to our servers along with your other data.
When you sign up for an Ikizen account, we ask for identifying information such as your email address. This is so you can access your account and we can send you product updates and essential information. We may also send you optional surveys from time to time to help us understand how you use our products and to make improvements.
We will never sell your personal information to third parties, and we will not use your name in marketing statements without your explicit permission.
If you subscribe to Ikizen, you will be asked to provide payment information. Credit card information is submitted directly to our payment processor (Stripe) and does not touch Ikizen servers. We may store a record of the payment transaction, including the last 4 digits of the credit card number, for purposes of account history and billing support.
We use privacy-focused analytics on our website to understand how visitors use ikizen.app. We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. No data is shared with third parties.
The ikizen.app website uses minimal cookies only for essential functionality such as authentication. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
To provide services you have requested. We use third-party subprocessors to help run our services: AWS (image storage), Cloudflare (CDN and security), and Stripe (payments).
Third-party integrations at your direction. If you connect a third-party service like Todoist, the extension communicates directly with that service. We facilitate this connection but do not access your third-party data.
Legal requirements. We may access or disclose your data if required to respond to legal process or protect rights and safety.
No human at Ikizen looks at your content except for limited purposes with your express permission, for example, if an error occurs that requires manual intervention to fix.
We apply the same data rights to all customers, regardless of location:
Right to Know. You have the right to know what personal information is collected, used, shared or sold.
Right of Access. You have the right to access the personal information we gather about you.
Right to Correction. You have the right to request correction of your personal information.
Right to Erasure. You have the right to request that your personal information be erased from our systems. You can delete your account at any time, and your synced data will be purged within 60 days.
Right to Portability. You have the right to export your data. You can export all your Ikizen data directly from the extension settings.
Right to Complain. You have the right to make a complaint regarding our handling of your personal information with the appropriate supervisory authority.
To exercise these rights or if you have questions, contact us at [email protected].
All data is encrypted via SSL/TLS when transmitted. We use automated backups, security patching, and monitoring to protect your data.
Our services are hosted in the European Union. If you are located outside the EU and choose to use cloud sync, your data will be stored in the EU.
We may update this policy as needed to comply with relevant regulations and reflect any new practices. If we make significant changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
